Yeah Right

Quick type treatment I made off a quote from a movie. Special thanks to yesyesyall.org for the musical accompaniment.

Pretty [dark] Colors

Here's the second installment of my poster series where I take a color from the Pretty Colors tumblr and make a poster out of it. The color is #b4ffd7. The title is "Beached Whale."

Pretty [dark] Colors

Yo Yo
I'm tired of staring at a computer monitor so imma make this quick. One of my favorite tumblrs is Pretty Colors. It's runs on a simple formula: post a pretty color and give the hex code for it. It's original which is a welcome departure from the oft-incestual nature of tumblr.

Anyway, the colors are really nice so I thought it would be cool to put a dark spin on it. So I will do my best to make a cute, but dark character using the color as my palette. Like fucked up little flash cards! I made a typeface out of parts of a circle to put the titles in, to keep the juxtaposition-theme going. And as always, I won't spend more than an hour on any of em.

This one is #00ADE6. Or death. Whichever you prefer.

I'll do more and post em soon.

Some Quotes

Because I am a glutton for punishment, I like to give myself little assignments when I have some free time. The latest one had me taking quotes and making an image from them. The rest of the rules: don't spend more than 2 hours on it, use a single typeface, and do a set of 3 in a similar style. No real rhyme or reason to the quote selection, and I didn't include attribution but they are pretty well known.

But if you don't know, they are by Ben Franklin, Malcolm Forbes and Mae West.

Sunday Sketchbook

Yo,
I haven't done one of these in a while, but I was all like "Damn son! You need to do some more Sunday Sketchbook and shit." So, after that compelling argument, I was ready to go. Here is some stuff I sketched up last night. It may or may not be related to the embroidery book I bought yesterday.

I've been drawing these 2 little radish guys for a while now. Anyway, enjoy!

I hate traffic

Hadn't been in it a while (what with not owning a car and all). Got plenty of it today though, including one particularly nasty stretch of road by the bridge. Details below

Thrift Store SCORE!

I went to Napa today to help my roommate pick up some paintings she had lent to a cafe there. We had some time to kill and decided to check out the local thrift store. I scored big time. I got:

The board game RISK. This one was made in 1975. The board, instruction manual, dice, and plastic pieces are all intact and in good condition. Total cost: $1.00. I shit you not.

Photobucket

The Complete Handyman "Do It Yourself" Encyclopedia. It was published in 1978 and is packed with useful info about home, automotive, appliance, electronic, and even boat repair. It also has some really nice illustrations. Cost: $2.00. It was the most expensive thing I bought. I got a book on Embroidery as well. It was also $2.00 and will come in handy with a project I am working on. All hardcover books at the store were $2. What a rip off!

Finally I got this T-Shirt from what looks like Harley road race from L.A. to San Francisco. I liked the look of it so I decided "why not?" I totally splurged and spent the $0.50 it cost.

Photobucket

Total cost of items $5.50. Not bad for a game of world conquest, the ultimate dad manual, a new skill, and a shirt that has seen its fair share of ass-whoopings and California coastal highways.

Workzilla

These next few days of work are going to be rough. Got a lot of stuff due on Thursday. So I made this quick poster last night to psyche myself up for it.
